Drill and Broadcast Seeding
Seeding is a major part of the erosion control and re-vegetation process. It can be done in several ways depending on the need of the job. Drill-seeding is a method of mechanically pressing seed into the ground to set depths using a drill seeder attached to a tractor. The process still leaves the site with exposed soils, and some form of mulch for erosion control is recommended such as straw or hydromulch.
Broadcast seeding is the method of spreading seed on the ground with a cyclone spreader. It is usually accompanied by mixing the seed into the soil with harrows. It is the most economical method of applying seed to large scale areas of land, or to areas which will be covered with erosion control blankets.
